Fabian Alphonsus Boone

July 24, 1939 ~ June 29, 1939

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. On April 28, 2018 Fabian Alphonsus Boone was summoned to God’s Kingdom after peacefully passing at home at the age of 78. Fabian was a son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Edwards) Boone and resident of Bateston.
Fabian is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Theresa (Devison) and their children, Joseph (Patricia), Darryl (Lorali), Darlene, Lorna (Patrick), Carol Anne (Shelley), Frank (Margaret-Anne), Danielle (Mario), and sons-in-law, Jerry and Clarence. Of immense pride and joy in his life were his grandchildren, Felicia, Ryan, Ashley, Gerard, Fabian, Josh, James, Amy, Christopher, Michael, Jeremy, Faith, Rachael, Niko, Fabian, Christopher, Xander, and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Kairi.
Fabian is also survived by his sister, Mary (Joseph); brothers, Alex (Judy), Bernard (Andrea), Butler and Greg (Marlene); sister-in-law, Charlotte, and a large number of nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
Besides his parents, Fabian was predeceased by his sister, Margaret (Willie J.); brothers, Joseph (Marie), John, Tony and Jimmy (Marie).
Fabian faithfully served his community as president of the Bateston Athletic Club until his passing and was past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club, Sydney. Throughout his career he was employed at the Steel Plant, then as a carpenter with Ells and Sawlor, Basco Builders, and retired from his position as Carpentry Supervisor at the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1997. His later years saw him return to fishing, something for which he always had a youthful passion.
Fabian was a loving man who put family above all. His Sundays were exclusively reserved for family to show up and enjoy a meal, catch up on events and share stories. Of immense pride to him were the friendships he had built over his lifetime and it can be easily said that if you were a friend of Fabian’s you were a friend for life.
Visitation will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Main-A-Dieu Friday, May 4, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral to be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. with internment in Parish cemetery. Reception to follow at the Bateston Athletic Club.
