Guy Joseph Hanson

August 12, 2018

Guy Joseph Hanson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Guy

Joseph Hanson of Hillside Road, Albert Bridge on Sunday, August 12, 2018.

He was the son of the late Charles and Eileen (Macdonald) Hanson of Albert Bridge.

Guy fell in love with harness racing as a young boy and spent as much

time as he could working with horses. In later years he would own

his own horse and see it race on the same track he worked on. He was a

member of the N. S. Horsemen's Association. Guy worked in Ontario, the

Northwest Territories, and finally settled in Cape Breton. He was a

carpenter by trade and his design ideas were always ahead of the time,

he could visualize how great things could look when others couldn't. He

had a great love of music and our family weddings, parties etc. were

always the greater when he deejayed the music. His collection of music

was as diverse as it was large.

Guy is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Diane (Rowe); his two

Sons, Gary (Fredericton) and Darren (Joanna) of Albert Bridge; and his

Grandchildren, Max and Jasmine of Alberta and Tia of Fredericton and

Garrett and Aiden of Albert Bridge. He is also survived by his brothers,

Trevor (Patricia), Patti (Alberta), Walter and Roddie (Diane) Albert

Bridge; sisters, Mildred, Charlene (Chuck) of Westmount and Debbie of

Ontario as well as 13 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by

Brothers, Charles, Beaton, David, Alden and Dannie, and his two nieces,

Robin and Cheryl.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Guy will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with Celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating
